Made a decision on the Rent situation

I set up the rent payment to be mailed tomorrow. With the holiday, he probably won’t get it until Thursday. Which is fine. I did tap into my overdraft for the $50 and took $50 from my savings for the other part. I get paid again on Friday the 6th, so I will be fine. Thanks for everyone’s input. I appreciate the help. 🙂

What to do when you can’t cover your rent

This month, I found that I can’t cover my rent. Since my student loan came due, I had to pay for that and it was unexpected. I’ve been applying for PT jobs here and there, but I just know that I don’t need one. I don’t have the energy to do two jobs again. Especially since the last week in August, I’d have to quit because school starts. Anywho, since I haven’t been late EVER in the year I’ve been here, I am just going to pay late. I have enough in my account to pay $300 of the $400 so I’m going to earn interest on it in my ING account until I have the rest of it. My landlord is pretty understanding. I will not take the money out of my E-Fund to pay it. Yes it’s an emergency, but I should be out of the bind by the end of next month. I don’t do any unnecessary spending so it should be fine.

What are some of the things you do when you’re in a pinch like this?

I’m a Winner, AGAIN!!!!!

Woo Hoo! JLP over at All Financial Matters has been giving away items from Life.doc. He has been doing one give away per day for the whole week. I won the Moving Kit. Thanks JLP!

I think this will be VERY helpful, especially when I plan the big move from Syracuse!

Dealing with a Devastating Medical Diagnosis

In this post by Madame X, she talks about how to deal financially with a devastating medical diagnosis. I can speak from personal experience in this. Here’s my story.

In August of 2005, I started a new job. It was part time, no benefits, with the potential for full time. At the time, I only had the Family Planning benefit offered through Medicaid. I was feeling great, and just needed to see the gynecologist once a year. But at the end of the month, I noticed a lump in my neck. I figured my lymph nodes were just a bit swollen because of a change in environment. Well, October rolled around, and it was time for my annual girl exam. When asked if there was anything else that concerned me with my health, I mentioned the lymph node in my neck that was still swollen. The nurse practitioner told me that I should go to a doctor other than a gynecologist to have it looked at. I explained that I didn’t have any health insurance and she found me a doctor who worked with the local hospital. Read the rest of this entry »

Apology in Advance

So, I apologize in advance for the quality of my posts lately. I’ve been trying to find a second job to supplement my income for the next three months. I have checked out books from the library so that I may move forward with my quest for my own business. I learned yesterday that people WILL pay for services that they don’t want to do, or don’t have the time to do. It’s definitely a great idea. I’ll have to come up with some contracts for services.

Hopefully, the money won’t be an issue anymore. I’m struggling to live paycheck to paycheck again. I am still putting $50/month into my E-Fund. So that’s good. Any suggestions, please!

I need a name for my business….

I was thinking about “Rent a Wife”, “Guardian Angel”, “Pick It Up”. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’d like to pick a slogan and print flyers soon.

Need to find some secondary income

I’m thinking about starting my own concierge business. I don’t really know what’s involved in this, but I am sure it is something I can find on the internet. Basically, I want to do people’s errands for them. Groceries, dry cleaning, car washes, etc. I have a Credit Card I could use to do the purchases, but I’m not sure how to bill the client. Obviously, I want to make money at this. Has anyone done this before?

In the meantime, I’m going to apply for summer jobs ANYWHERE!!!! I need extra money now, not yesterday. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
