Back from Vacation!

I’m back from Sunny High Point, North Carolina. Again, I’m thinking of moving there when school is done next summer. I was gone for 4 days and here’s my receipt roundup:

Parking: $18.00 (Thanks for finding a cheaper lot, Dad!)

Food:  $83.23 (Dinner for two at The Melting Pot)

Travel Pillow/Blanket: $ 17.64

Miscellaneous: $ 33.00 (magazines, picture frames, etc.)

Total: $151.87

I had a great time visiting with my BFF from high school and her family. I’m glad that I went down there and it reaffirms my decision to leave NYS ASAP.

A great idea!

I found this post on Wise Bread’s blog about making a “safe” for your loose money. If you are like most people, you have a coin jar on your counter or dresser where you dump all your loose change at the end of the day. Mine actually says Vacation Fund on it. I’ve seen all the book-safes out there, and this one is actually ingenious! I’ve thought about hiding money in my DVD collection, and then thought against it. You see, I use a bank to hide my money. Lately I’ve been traveling, so the Marker-safe is actually perfect! (If you’re going to carry money, of course). The best way to travel if you don’t want to use Credit Cards is Travelers Cheques. International travelers cheques are available online, and most US Currency travelers cheques are available at B&M banks in your area. The AMEX website lists where they are available. I have never used travelers cheques because I rarely buy anything worth carrying them for. I usually carry my Credit Union Visa and use that.

What source of money do you use while traveling?

Finally put up a slideshow of my Orlando trip

I forgot about FREE STUFF!!!

When I was at Cocoa Beach this weekend, I was on my way into the RonJon Surf Shop when someone handed me some free stuff. I got a new Venus Razor, toothpaste samples, PeptoBismol samples, tampon samples, Secret body spray, shampoo samples, and some new gum samples. This totally rocks because I will be able to use them on my next trip to Charlotte Memorial Day weekend.

Receipt Roundup

Cocoa Beach Pier

I had a great time on vacation! I stayed with a friend, which means no money for a hotel or a resort. We did alot of free stuff. We went to City Walk, which is a free part of Disney. We went to Cocoa Beach Pier and parked at Publix so we didn’t have to pay $10 for parking. I did spend quite a bit and here is my receipt round up:

Total Clothing: $88.44

Total Food: $93.45

Total Lodging: $52.43

Total Misc.: $23.83

Overall total was: $258.55. Not bad for concert tickets, dinners out for 4 days (one at Planet Hollywood), sou verniers and other miscellaneous stuff (my rechargeable battery for my camera died halfway through my day at Universal Studios). The total does not include my airfare which I bought back in February. I have another trip coming up which the airfare is also paid for.I’d like to say that although I’m trying to get out of debt, I’ve made some pretty big life changing events over the last few days. I’ve decided to go to the University to finish my 4-year degree. Yes it’s a bit more expensive than the private college I’m currently attending, BUT the reason I decided to go to the university is because I will finish a 4 year degree in the same amount of time I would have spent getting my 2 year degree. I have also decided that when I complete my degree, I will pursue other opportunities outside of New York State. I have thought about Orlando, Charlotte, Phoenix, and Houston. Obviously all of these cities don’t get the frigid winters that we get here in central New York. I don’t have any kids, and I’m not married, so I basically have nothing holding me back. So, where I’m going with my rambling is this: I have taken a trip to Orlando already and have a trip to Charlotte planned next month. I will be looking at job opportunities and living arrangement situations in each city to evaluate where the best place for me to go is. I already know I will feel very comfortable in North Carolina or Florida, it’s just Texas and Arizona that I’m not too sure about.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

On Vacation!!!

I will be on vacation until Sunday! Look for my receipt roundup for what I spent here in Orlando!
